Xpress Fleet has reached a milestone in the fleet.
The innovative Sydney-based car carrying operator has just taken delivery of its first Kenworth prime mover, a T410SAR, to bolster its interstate operations along Australia’s east coast.
Xpress Fleet founder and Managing Director, James Hussary, entered this niche market just four years ago with close to two decades of previous road transport experience under his belt.
In this short timeframe, his operation has amassed 15 trucks, all of which are put to work hauling a range of vehicles for different applications between Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane & Adelaide.
“We take anything from Lamborghinis worth a couple million dollars to Trucks, Buses & Machines” Hussary told Prime Mover.
“We carry and move vehicles for manufacture events, and also do vehicle preparation for these events. example Audi Australia, Formula 1, we support KIA’s sponsorship of the Australian Open & all there marketing events. Lexus Australia with the likes of Melbourne cup and on demand vehicles.
“It’s imperative to our business that we move a wide variety of vehicles. The industry we’re in is a hard one to get into, and unless you remain versatile, you won’t be able to survive.”
Despite successfully accumulating a fleet of various trucks to support Xpress Fleet, Hussary’s desire to operate a Kenworth has been a long time coming.
His initial plan to acquire one when the business was founded — in the midst of COVID-19 — was thwarted by supply chain shortages.
Hussary will waste no time in deploying the vehicle which will have its inaugural trip from the company’s Sydney headquarters to its Melbourne depot.
The new Kenworth T410SAR features a PACCAR MX-13 engine rated to 510 horsepower.
According to Hussary, these characteristics are very well-suited to his company’s specific operations.
“The good thing about our work is that cars aren’t that heavy when compared to general freight,” he said.
“The PACCAR motor is fuel efficient, and powerful enough to pull the truck and trailer with it. That’s all I need.”
Other aspects of the truck’s design were scrutinised prior to its delivery — including a reinforced cab frame to support the cars being transported, upgraded axles and alot lights & bling.
Additionally, the Kenworth T410SAR is also fitted with a microwave, tv, air conditioning unit, and bunk space to ensure comfort for Xpress Fleet’s drivers, who are on the road most of the week.
These specifications were overseen by Brown and Hurley salesman, Mick Clark, who Hussary has frequently collaborated with throughout his career.
“The dealership in Kyogle, NSW, has done a great job getting this truck ready for us, and so much of that is thanks to Mick Clark,” Hussary said.
“I’ve worked with him in my previous roles, but never for my own business, and it’s been great. He has understood my vision for the truck so well and helped fit all the right things we need to make this truck a workhorse for our niche market.”
Hussary has received high praise from the industry for the new Kenworth T410SAR which is proving to be something of a showpiece.
“I feel really proud of this truck,” Hussary said.
“We’ve been promoting it online, through social media, to our clientele and followers. And everyone loves it.
“This truck is not just another truck for us. It’s a representation of how far Xpress Fleet has come, and where it’s going. I’m sure that we will have a few more Kenworths on the road at some point.”
