Scania’s plan to build a full size wind tunnel at its headquarters in Sodertalje, near Stockholm in Sweden, will be a European first.
The new facility will enable the Swedish truck manufacturer to test vehicle characteristics in various climactic conditions on-site.
“In various stages of the development phase, there are many advantages in being able to test vehicles and individual components independently of seasons and without having to transport them to another climate,” said Sven Ake Edstrom, SVP Truck, Cab and Bus Chassis Development. “Investing in a wind tunnel will strengthen our competitiveness, since it will make shorter development times and higher product quality possible.”
