Win free tickets to Sandown Drive Days

CRT Australia is giving away ten free tickets to the Sandown Drive Days in Melbourne on March 7-8. The first five people who email referring to CRT News will get to take part in one of the country's most prestigous trucking events for free.

The 2013 edition of the event will have a strong safety focus, with the opportunity to attend a hands-on maintenance workshop and learn from the world's most renowned experts in truck safety. Don't miss out on this unique chance to join industry professionals at the Sandown Racecourse and learn all about safety and vehicle maintenance and drive the latest trucks available in Australia.

But, why is vehicle maintenance so important to Australian trucking bussinesses? According to the Victorian Transport Association (VTA), most incidents occurring on the major arterials controlled by VicRoads result from issues such as fuel loss, mechanical breakdown, loss of load due to poor load restraint or simply inattention.

To bring vehicle maintenance back to mind, the Sandown event will therefore host workshops on brakes, suspension, tyres and engine servicing, with VicRoads and WorkSafe inspectors on hand to demonstrate correct roadside practices and answer questions.

Meanwhile, the National Bulk Transport Association (NBTA) in conjunction with the Canberra and Regions Oil Industry Emergency Response Group, Transport Industry Skills Centre and WorkSafe will run a tanker roll over exercise as well as a WorkSafe-led tanker inspection. According to the NBTA, the tanker exercise will use an actual tanker that is on its side. It will demonstrate the co-ordination and skills needed to successfully recover both the product and the vehicle.

In addition to that, the manager of the Volvo crash test program will speak at Sandown Drive Days dinner and also attend the Sandown Drive Days on the 7th and 8th March.
