The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) will host three regional workshops in the Victorian towns of Sale, Wodonga and Horsham. These workshops are being held as part of Freight 2011, the biannual event which culminates with Freight Week on 5-9 September.
“We are hitting the road to visit our regional members, to find out their issues, plus provide valuable information on the latest issues and business advice,” said VTA CEO, Philip Lovel, AM. Regional transport and logistics companies will also be able to discuss important local issues and provide feedback directly to the VTA.
Mr Lovel continued, “Often our regional members are too busy to come to Melbourne for meetings, so this is a great chance for them to join us for an information exchange. We also look forward to non- members coming along, so they can learn what the VTA is all about and how we can help them.”
The workshops will cover the topics:
• Industry update: current industry developments and how they will affect you.
• Industrial relations: Safe Rates, Award Handbooks and some recent decisions from Fair Work Australia that may have an impact on the way you run you business.
• Local issues
• Workers Compensation
• Superannuation and Business
• Insurance & Management Liability
• Health Insurance
Workshop dates are as follows:
Sale: Wednesday 23rd March
Wodonga: Wednesday 6th April
Horsham: Wednesday 4th May
An additional workshop will be held in Melbourne on 14 April for those who are unable to attend the regional sessions.
These workshops are free and open to VTA members and the public. Registration is essential. For more information, contact the VTA on 03 9646 8590.
