The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has announced the election of Dennis Ryan as President and re-elected Cameron Murphy as Vice-president at its 122nd Annual General Meeting.
According to VTA CEO, Peter Anderson, Ryan is no stranger to the association.
“Dennis Ryan is well-known in our membership, having served on the Executive Council of the VTA on various committees for many years,” he said.
“He has worked in the transport industry for over 50 years, with the third-generation family owned and operated Ryan’s of Leongatha well-known and regarded in the broader Victorian and national freight and logistics industry.”
Ryan’s election ends the five-year tenure of former president Mike Lean, who navigated the VTA through the COVID-19 pandemic and the trucking sector’s push towards decarbonisation.
“I’d like to thank Mike on behalf of the Council, Secretariat, and broader VTA membership for his generous commitment of time and energy throughout his presidency, and for inspiring lasting strategic change that has set the Association up well for many years of success,” Anderson said.
Additionally, the VTA’s Annual General Meeting saw the appointment of TFMXpress managing director Frank Ainalis to the association’s Executive Council. Anderson expressed his excitement for this appointment.
“I look forward to working with Frank, with the Council set to benefit from his years of hands-on experience and strategic expertise,” he said.
Lean was recently appointed as Managing Director of Cochrane’s Transport in Adelaide.
