The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has announced Continental Tyres of Australia Pty Ltd as a new Alliance partner, saying that this partnership will allow the industry to be informed about a world class product that to date has had limited availability in Australia but comes with a reputation for quality and innovation internationally.
VTA CEO, Philip Lovel AM, commented “We are delighted to have Continental Tyres join us as an Alliance Partner. The partnership will benefit our members in a number of ways, through a range of events and projects we will work on together.
“The VTA and Continental Tyres will work on safety initiatives for the industry, focusing on tyre technology and wheel maintenance. Through the Transport Industry Safety Group we will develop a guide to purchasing a safer tyre, which will be available in early 2011.”
Continental has been a world leader in innovation and technological automotive development since 1871. As a brand, Continental is characterised the world over as a producer of premium tyre products developed using the latest technologies, resulting in providing high mileage, traction, durability, safety and lower fuel consumption. Earlier this year, Continental unveiled its intention to expand its global truck centre concept “BestDrive” into Australia as a clear commitment to supporting truck operators nationally.
General Manager of Continental Tyres, Steve Brown, said Continental is delighted to be working with the VTA on some of the safety and productivity issues in the Freight and Logistics Industry. “We have a lot of international experience to bring to the industry through the VTA, particularly about tyre applications and specifications.”
Philip Lovel added, “Continental Tyres have also signed on as a major sponsor of the Australian Freight Industry Awards to be held in September. This shows a really strong commitment to the industry and support for our people. The VTA is looking forward to growing this fantastic new partnership.”
