Operations for Trucksmart to become a Penske dealer will commence 16 October – once the North Star Motors’ agreement is finalised.
Penske’s truck dealer network represents the Western Star Trucks, MAN Truck & Bus, Dennis Eagle and Detroit brands in the Hunter Valley and Newcastle region.
“We are excited to welcome Trucksmart to our Australian dealer network,” said Penske Australia Head of Dealer Capability George Konstantinou.
“With extensive experience in heavy duty European truck sales and support and an expansive aftermarket parts business, David and his team are well positioned to support our customers.”
Founded over 30 years, Trucksmart holds over 60 employees, including 17 technicians who aim to provide comprehensive sales, service and parts support for Penske’s portfolio.
Trucksmart Managing Director David Body said Trucksmart and Penske shared common goals including a passion for customer service and involvement in motorsport.
“With decades of experience in the trucking industry, as well as a long-standing involvement in motorsport that resonates at Penske’s core, joining the Penske network is both a business milestone and a personal highlight for me,” he said.
“As a proud family business, we are committed to delivering a holistic approach to supporting the heavy vehicle industry, whether through our extensive sales expertise, our expansive truck parts warehouse division or our highly trained and multi-skilled technicians.”
Body’s son, Michael Body, will lead Trucksmart’s parts division, while Jack Walker who began his career specialising in Penske products will oversee the 10-bay Beresfield workshop and 24/7 mobile breakdown service.
“On behalf of the Penske team, I’d like to sincerely thank North Star Motors for their dedication and service since 1996,” said Konstantinou.
