Truck rego to rise by 2.4 percent

The National Transport Commission (NTC) has announced a 2.4 percent hike in registration charges, effective 1 July 2011.

With these changes, the cost of registering a semi trailer will rise from $5612 to $5746, and a B-double from $15,340 to $15,708.

Since 2008, heavy vehicles charges have been adjusted annually in order to maintain the recovery of road costs. Each year, the NTC is responsible for reviewing the national heavy vehicle charges and calculating the adjustment; with the revenue from these charges used towards building better and safer roads.
