Transpacific releases sustainability report

Recycling and waste management company Transpacific has released its Sustainability Report 2014: A Path to Success, which evaluates the key sustainability opportunities and challenges the company faces across Australia.

According to Transpacific Chief Executive Officer, Robert Boucher, future success required a sharper focus on managing the opportunities and risks of economic, social and environmental developments.

“The Sustainability Report 2014: A Path to Success greatly assists us to define and act upon our overall corporate responsibilities as Australia’s leading recycling, waste management and industrial services company,” he said.

“We know that effectively managing the environmental, social and economic impacts of our business will continue to set us apart from our competitors and this report provides us with a significant tool to do that during these early stages of our sustainability journey.

“Significantly, the report defines our sustainability values; demonstrating our accountability and transparency to all stakeholders and providing our staff with a clear vision for the years ahead.”

Transpacific’s sustainability values across four key areas include the provision of strong shareholder returns; connecting with communities; minimising impacts on the environment; and building a safe, engaging workplace culture. Highlights from the report included Transpacific’s successful school education and community initiatives to improve recycling behaviors, the company’s 13 per cent reduction in total greenhouse emissions and a 34 per cent decrease in Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR).

Transpacific says the findings in the report will allow the company to benchmark its future sustainability performance.
