Recycling and waste management company, Transpacific, has won the Training, Education & Development category at the 2013 Australian Supply Chain and Logistics (ASCL) Awards recently held at Sydney’s Opera House.
Transpacific was named winner for initiatives aimed at attracting and developing a diverse and inclusive workforce, which focused on recruitment strategies and professional staff development programs.
The win comes on top of Transpacific’s earlier success at the Queensland Supply Chain and Logistics Awards, which lead to the nomination for the national awards.
“This year Transpacific, and in particular the HR team, have been driving a range of diversity sourcing strategies to attract more young people and Indigenous people to the industry as well as more women to roles that are traditionally dominated by men,” said Brenda Mello, Transpacific Executive General Manager of Human Resources.
“We’ve found that by diversifying our workforce, we see more creative and innovative business solutions being identified as we are tapping into different perspectives to address the challenges in our business.
“Not only are our diversity initiatives enhancing our reputation as an employer of choice but our employees are also appreciative of how Transpacific is operating in an inclusive manner, which ultimately is improving morale, productivity and our overall workplace culture.”
