Tradezone Electricals’s Isuzu FRR 107-210s have fast become a standout in its mixed fleet.
The Gold Coast-based company burst onto the scene with its pioneering e-commerce platform connecting customers to wholesale electrical supplies, and has since established a presence in every major capital city in Australia.
This rapid growth is underpinned by transparent stock holdings and fast delivery. And after realising it couldn’t rely on third-party carriers, Tradezone Electrical began building its own mixed fleet of trucks.
“We started purchasing trucks to manage that whole process from start to finish, to get the product into our customers’ hands fast,” said Managing Director, Robert Kingston.
“We purchased three, then another three, and fast forward a few years, we now have 50 in the fleet.”
Tradezone Electrical’s diverse fleet ranges from 12-pallet trucks for larger-scale metropolitan runs to agile three-pallet ‘baby’ trucks for navigating tight city streets and suburban worksites.
Among this wide variety of vehicles is the Isuzu FRR 107-210, the most prolific model in the fleet which provides the best of both worlds — a blend of capability and manoeuvrability.
These FRR 107-210s feature a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 10,700kg, providing an optimal payload for urban delivery routes without compromising on accessibility.
The trucks’ power comes from Isuzu’s N-4HK1-TCS 5.2L turbo-diesel engine, producing 154 kW of power and 726 Nm of torque, offering good performance for start-stop city driving.
This is paired with Isuzu’s MZW-6P six-speed automated manual transmission, with both fully automatic and clutch-less manual operation modes which help to reduce driver fatigue on long days and ensure optimal fuel efficiency across varied routes.
Additionally, the vehicles are fitted with essential features like tailgates and electronic pallet jacks to cater to customer needs.
Tradezone Electrical’s partnership with the OEM was fostered by Brisbane Isuzu at Archerfield.
“We deal closely with Brisbane Isuzu and Nick Greet is my ‘go-to’ man,” said Tradezone Electrical National Fleet Manager, Nyle Sunderland.
“Any ideas I have, I discuss them with Nick and we work out what model will be the best fit for Tradezone. His knowledge is just phenomenal.
“The other factor that plays into my decision making is safety, and the features on the Isuzu product are above any other vehicles that we looked at.”
Because of this, the latest Isuzu F Series models in Tradezone’s fleet are equipped with some key safety aids and comfort features including driver and passenger airbags with seatbelt pretensioners and an ECE-R29 compliant cab.
Other features include an Anti-lock Braking System, cruise control and the ISRI 6860 driver seat with an integrated seatbelt.
Driver comfort is also a key consideration, with air-suspended seats included on the F-Series models and custom modifications based on direct driver feedback to ensure they are productive and comfortable on the longer routes.
These safety and comfort features add up, and Tradezone Electrical’s drivers couldn’t be happier behind the wheel of the Isuzu trucks.
“Their feedback is that they are such good trucks to drive,” Sunderland said.
“They handle really well compared to trucks they’ve operated in past companies they have come from.”
What’s more, Tradezone Electrical’s relationship with Isuzu ensures quality service and integration into the manufacturer’s expansive network.
“I have access to dealerships nationwide, which was one of the big factors that I liked the most about Isuzu,” Sunderland said.
“No matter where we are in the country, we can reach out to an Isuzu dealership and have trucks fixed, repaired, serviced.”
