Toll Group has launched ten electric trucks to support LEGO Group’s supply chain.
The initiative in China is part of Toll’s and LEGO Group’s broader sustainability strategy and aligns with both companies’ targets to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
Manufactured by FOTON, the newly deployed battery electric trucks will replace diesel trucks on key shuttle routes between LEGO Group’s factory and regional distribution centres in Lingang Free Trade Zone and Jiaxing.
These trucks will transport LEGO products, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient logistics operation.
The Lingang Free Trade Zone was selected as the launch point due to its strategic location near the port and its role as the starting point for LEGO product exports.
Each truck offers a travel range of over 300 kilometres and a fast-charging time of just 1.5 hours. The estimated annual carbon reduction from this deployment is 218 tonnes.
Electric power for these trucks is sourced from a mix of hydro, solar, wind, fossil, and nuclear energy, reflecting China’s diverse energy landscape.
The initiative is supported by local government incentives in Shanghai, which encourage the adoption of electric vehicles in logistics.
“This launch demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Morris Ong, Regional GM Greater China.
“We are proud to share the same environmental values as our customer LEGO and to contribute to a cleaner future.”
