TNT Express to bolster mining industry with new service

TNT Express is set to introduce 50 new Volkswagen Crafter vans to improve its service to mining companies in remote areas of Western Australia where air transport is not available.

According to TNT Express, the vans are set to enter the Mission Critical Services fleet immediately. The vans will be used to pick up and deliver urgent packages to mine sites across Australia's largest state and will be available around the clock, seven days a week.

“These new vans represent an optimal freight solution for the region,” said Mark Hamilton, Director of Sales and Marketing for TNT Express.

“All companies in Western Australia, not just those in the mining sector, can benefit from this very specialist addition to our Mission Critical portfolio.”

The vans will all be custom-fitted with a sleeper cab, GPS tracking and satellite phones and can accommodate cartons, pallets and crates up to 1300kg, enabling the transportation of heavy mechanical parts for repairing large mining vehicles.
