The Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council (TLISC) has launched the inaugural edition of Environmental Scan (E-Scan), a flagship annual publication.
TLISC has introduced E-Scan to “encourage discourse and action” on future challenges facing the transport industry.
“With the health of the economy dependent on efficient transport and logistics infrastructure, the industry needs to remain focused on developing a highly skilled workforce capable of adapting to change,” said TLISC CEO, Robert Adams, in a statement.
Stakeholders across the industry were consulted during the development of E-Scan, identifying a number of key trends that were of concern.
The deployment of new technology and encouraging young people to make careers in transport and logistics were outlined as important issues to be considered.
Speaking at the launch of E-Scan, Adams told the audience that the Skills Council were at the forefront of efforts to develop intelligence regarding the transport and logistics industry and its workforce.
“Intelligence gathered by us remains a vital source of information for Government, industry and key stakeholders so that the right policies and support can be developed to promote investment in skills and workplace development,” said Adams.
