A highly specialised heavy-duty vehicle from Tatra Trucks is being prepared for local delivery.
Developed in cooperation with Victorian dealer Offroad Trucks Australia, the right-hand-drive unit is currently undergoing preparation ahead of fitment with an aerial platform from Bronto Skylift. Once completed, the vehicle will enter service with infrastructure specialist Quantum Comms.
The Tatra Phoenix features eight axles, with the first three and rear two axles steerable to improve manoeuvrability despite its size. Power comes from a 390kW MX-13 engine supplied by PACCAR, paired with a 12-speed TraXon transmission and compliant with Euro 6 emissions standards.
Designed for demanding operating environments, the vehicle rides on wide 445mm tyres across all axles and is engineered for loads of up to 10 tonnes per axle. The configuration places the Phoenix 16×16 among the most capable specialist trucks to be delivered into Australia, with applications expected in heavy infrastructure and utility support roles.
