StarTrack places orders for 191 new Fuso trucks

The New Year is off to a good start for Fuso Trucks Australia with the now totally Australia Post-owned StarTrack placing orders for 191 new Fuso vehicles. The deal includes 126 new Canters, 64 Fighters and one Fuso Heavy. The 191 new Fuso’s will join StarTrack’s pick-up and delivery fleet of more than 3,000 trucks and trailers, which deliver more than 1.2 million parcels during an average week.

In 2011, StarTrack established itself as the operator of the largest fleet of hybrid commercial vehicles in Australia when it introduced its “green fleet” including 25 Fuso Canter Eco Hybrids.
Tests have since shown that the hybrid vehicles consistently achieved fuel savings above 30 per cent when compared with equivalent diesel powered trucks, with each vehicle saving 6.2 tonnes of CO2 per year.

StarTrack is also a member of the steering group set up to establish the New South Wales Green Truck Partnership which is an alliance between the State Government’s Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) and a number of prominent truck fleets. The Green Truck Partnership’s purpose is to commission agreed independent testing of products that claim to improve the environmental performance of heavy vehicles examining factors such as modern automatic gearbox technology, biofuels, LNG, CNG and lift axles.

“With large orders like these we are sustainably reinforcing our export business in important markets like Australia,” said Kai-Uwe Seidenfuss, Mitsubishi Fuso’s Senior Vice President of Sales & After Sales, who is based at the Fuso head office in Japan.
