StarTrack opens new facility in 50th year

National express parcel carrier, StarTrack has opened a new location in Avalon.

The 7100m² warehouse is situated adjacent to Australia Post’s Avalon Parcel Facility.

StarTrack Road Express expects the facility, based in the Linfox-operated Avalon Airport precinct, will enhance its services for customers in the Geelong region.

Boasting a significant 14,000m² footprint the hub can process 40,000 parcels per day, with capacity to expand to 60,000 parcels per day for future peak periods.

The new Avalon Parcel Facility opened in October 2023.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of StarTrack.

Greg Poche founded the company in 1974, as Multigroup Distribution Services in Dee Why, before renaming it eight years later to Discount Freight Express.

The name StarTrack Express was adopted in 2001.

Australia Post acquired the remaining 50 per cent stake of StarTrack, which was held by Qantas, for around $400 million in 2012.

The deal included divesting 50 per cent of its stake in Australian Air Express to Qantas.
