SkillsTech Australia celebrates National Reconciliation Week

In honour of National Reconciliation Week, held from 27 May to 3 June, SkillsTech Australia will raise the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island flags at its Acacia Ridge Training Centre on Wednesday 30 May.

Accoridng to SkillsTech Australia Institute Director, Mary Campbell, the inaugural flag raising ceremony marks the TAFE institute’s commitment to more than 400 Indigenous students across six training centres and recognises significant milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey.

“The theme for this year is ‘Let’s talk recognition’ and in that spirit, we would like to recognise the foundation of our community – our Indigenous tradespeople and apprentices,” Mrs Campbell said.

“It will be a celebration of reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance performances, guest speakers, elders and a sausage sizzle featuring Kangaroo and Crocodile meats, and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island flags will fly for the rest of the week.”
