Six new V8 Scanias for Borg Manufacturing

Borg Manufacturing, a kitchen materials manufacturer based on the New South Wales Central Coast, has just taken delivery of six new Scania R 620 V8 prime movers.

Borg said the 620hp engines were selected over the 560hp option in order to take advantage of the greater torque available to maximise fuel efficiency in the trucks. They will spend most of their working lives operating in B-double configuration at up to 68 tonnes GVM under the Intelligent Access program.

The Scania two pedal Opticruise transmissions are fitted to the trucks and drive RB735 hub reduction rear axles. Fuel tank capacity is 810 litres, with a, locally developed, 90-litre AdBlue belly tank supplementing the factory 75-litre urea tank to avoid refilling on long haul journeys.

Borg’s drivers are well looked after as the cabs feature leather interiors and a full complement of driver assistance and safety packages, including lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, ESP, EBS and ABS. Air coolers are fitted to the roofs as another factor to assist with driver comfort and efficiency.

The delivery of the Scania prime movers is part of the company’s fleet replacement and expansion program and, with the addition of a number of new UD rigid trucks delivered during recent weeks, this increases the Borg in-house fleet to more than 40 prime movers and 70 rigid trucks.
