Highly regarded senior commercial vehicle engineer, Simon Humphries, has rejoined Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) as Chief Engineer, Product Strategy, taking over from Colin White who retires after nine years’ service with the company.
Mr Humphries first joined Isuzu-General Motors (as it was known at the time) in 1998 as Truck Sales Engineer, before being promoted to the senior engineering role in 2001.
In early 2009 he left IAL after successfully overseeing several large model roll outs with the truck market leader, including a 100-plus, all-new model introduction in 2007 and 2008.
Mr Humphries was also heavily involved in development work in the lead-up to the launch of Isuzu’s second generation compressed natural gas range.
Upon leaving IAL, Mr Humphries joined Wesfarmers’ Evol LNG where he was Business Manager – East Coast for two years. For the past three years, he held the position of Chief Technical Officer with the Truck Industry Council (TIC), Australia’s peak truck manufacturer and major component supplier representative group.
Mr Humphries said he was very excited at the prospect of rejoining IAL after several years expanding his skill base with Evol and TIC.
“I’m delighted at being given the opportunity to resume working with IAL,” he said.
“In recent years the company has restructured its sales department, while the engineering team has also grown in size – I’m looking forward to working with both to ensure we continue to deliver superior products to our customers.”
IAL Director and Chief Operating Officer, Phil Taylor, said Mr Humphries’ return to IAL would yield benefits for both the Isuzu brand and its customers.
“Simon is highly regarded in the commercial vehicle industry and will strengthen our engineering department,” Mr Taylor said.
“His two recent roles have expanded his knowledge base and industry contacts, and he returns to IAL able to offer our company more than ever before – Simon will make a strong contribution.”
