A former Scott’s Refrigerated Logistics senior executive has found a new home at Silk Logistics.
James Nicholias has begun the calendar year as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Silk Logistics.
His appointment was met with a warm welcome by Silk’s Managing Director and CEO, Brendan Boyd.
“We welcome James to Silk, and look forward to his contribution as the company plans its next phase of consolidation and growth,” Boyd said in a statement.
Nicholias, who is working through a transition program with outgoing CFO Brendon Pentland prior to his leaving in March 2024, brings more than 20 years of financial experience from industries including logistics and supply chain, recycling, banking and infrastructure.
From 2017 to 2022 he held multiple roles at Bingo Industries including Acting CFO, Group Financial Controller and General Manager for Finance Transformation and Investor Relations.
Between 2022 and March 2023 he was the CFO at Scott’s Refrigerated Logistics during a turbulent period for the national cold carrier as it entered voluntary administration.
Nicholias is considered a proactive, business-first CFO with a strong record in developing and implementing solutions that maximise return and drive business growth in ASX 200 and private organisations.
His extensive financial management experience spans infrastructure, property, banking, hospitality, transport, waste management and recycling industries.
Nicholias has also worked in senior finance roles with Australian Turf Club, JP Morgan, Macquarie Group and Deloitte.
For FY2023 Silk Logistics reported revenue of $486.6 million, a 23.8 per cent increase compared to FY2022.
As for mergers and acquisitions, the integration of Fremantle Freight & Storage is reportedly on track to complete within the first half of FY2024. Meanwhile, the takeover of Secon Freight Logistics should be complete by Q1 2024.
In May last year, Silk announced Cheryl Hayman as a Non-Executive Director would join its Board.
