The news coming out of Europe suggests the initial signs of a recovery in the truck market after two years in the doldrums following the global financial crisis. Scania has announced it is taking on an extra 500 employees in anticipation of increased sales in the last quarter of 2010.
Meanwhile, Volvo has announced an increase in sales of 62% when compared to the same month in 2009. The global Volvo group sold 14,377 vehicles in July suggesting a recovery in demand and also suggesting that Europe may avoid the feared ‘double dip’ recession.
