Melbourne-based linehaul carrier, SGGS Transport, has deployed another B-triple — the second in the national fleet.
The combination is rated to 85.5 tonnes and is being pulled by a new Kenworth K220.
It is running on the same freight lane as the first B-triple, initially reported on last July, between Sydney and Perth.
The driver has been given a 2.8-metre high Big Cab for the 8,000-kilometre journey.
Powered by a 600hp Cummins X15 powerplant with an Endurant XD Pro Automated Transmission on a Meritor MT21-165GP drive axle, the Kenworth K220 comes with an Electronic Braking System that incorporates Antilock Braking, Automatic Traction Control and Drag Torque Control.
The truck also features an Electronic Stability Program and a Fusion Integrated Safety System with Adaptive Cruise, Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking.
Long-time partner Vawdrey delivered the latest PBS-approved trailers.
Dannii Spiteri SGGS Victorian Branch Manager considers the new high performance vehicle another successful achievement for the company after a busy year.
“We’re thrilled to introduce another B-triple to our operations launched with our partner CTI,” she told Prime Mover.
“The timing of its delivery just before Christmas couldn’t have been better ahead of the most hectic time of year for some of us.
“For a long haul fleet our size, which is growing all the time, PBS is providing tangible productivity gains in key performance categories and we’ll continue investing in it as a matter of course where appropriate.”
SGGS will also be providing warehouse services in Melbourne and Brisbane going forward.
“Our main goal is to cater for our customers needs,” added Spiteri.
“There’s exciting things set to happen for SGGS in 2025.”
