SCLAA to introduce mentoring program in Victoria

In the road transport industry, new associations seem to spring up everywhere recently, making it hard to identify the difference between them. In an exclusive interview, Damian Cosgriff, incoming President of the SCLAA, told Prime Mover how his organisation can benefit the industry.

While the industry association he is about to helm may be unknown to some outside Victoria, the incoming President of the Victorian and Tasmanian division of the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA) is definitely no shrinking violet when it comes to commercial road transport – in fact, Damian Cosgriff can draw on lots of experience in the industry.

Originally hailing from Melbourne, the opportunity to head back after living in Queensland for 18 years has come at an opportune time for Damian Cosgriff, as his now grown up children live and study in the Victorian city as well.

“I have worked in the industry for over 35 years in various roles and my industry experience allows me to understand the needs of the industry,” he says. “I have a broad network of people to engage in the SCLAA, which also helps me to keep up-to-date with hot topics and industry issues on a daily basis.”

According to Damian, becoming the State President of Victoria and Tasmania is a “wonderful opportunity” to ensure that the organisation offers its members the types of events that they would like to attend. But there is more work to be done, as he also wants to introduce the successful SCLAA Mentoring program in Victoria and improve the Future Leaders Group, as well the level of entrants for the VIC Supply Chain and Logistics Awards. Promoting the SCLAA Scholarship to members in Victoria and Tasmania is also high on his agenda.

“There are many successful initiatives and programs that we can bring to Victoria and I am looking forward to working with the members to offer them the best SCLAA we can be,” he says.
