As part of the 2011 CVIAQ Schools to Industry Tour, CVIAQ members Volvo Group Australia and Hercules Trailers opened their doors to eighty secondary school students from the Toowoomba and Beenleigh districts to demonstrate the career options available to them within these businesses.
Students and teaching staff saw activities involving trades in the manufacturing and service and repair sectors, as well as spare parts and sales operations.
The schools that took part were St Joseph’s College and Concordia Lutheran College (Toowoomba) and Beenleigh State High School, Windaroo Valley State High School and Trinity College (Beenleigh).
Students interested in pursuing a career within the heavy vehicle industry were invited to take part in work experience with either of the two host companies or with other interested members of the CVIAQ based in the state’s south eastern corner.
The 2011 CVIAQ Schools to Industry Tour has been running since 2004 and was established to help students to make informative choices about apprenticeships, traineeships and work experience within the commercial vehicle industry as they prepare to leave school and enter the workforce.
