The Australian Trucking Association’s (ATA) travelling road safety exhibition, the Safety Truck, will visit Goulburn this weekend (Sunday, 16 March) as part of the Goulburn Heritage Parade and Picnic.
The ATA said members of the public can visit the truck in Belmore Park from 10am to try out the new road safety apps and the kid’s pedal cart track.
The Safety Truck prime mover will take part in the parade down Auburn Street from 1pm.
Goulburn Mulwaree Council Road Safety Officer Tracey Norberg said it was great to have the Safety Truck coming out to help celebrate Goulburn’s 151st birthday.
“With the Hume Highway running past town, it’s vitally important for people to be aware of heavy vehicles and how they can stay safe around them on the road,” Mrs Norberg said.
“That’s why we’re really pleased to have the Safety Truck sharing its road safety messages as part of the celebrations on Sunday.
“It’s going to be a great day out – I encourage everyone to pack a picnic and come out to the park, enjoy the exhibits and watch the parade.”
The Safety Truck will continue visiting communities across Australia with a tour through the Gippsland area of Victoria in late March.
