S & J Australian Scrap Tyre Disposals adds Isuzu FXLs to fleet

Specialising in environmentally friendly tyre dispocal, Ipswich-based S & J Australian Scrap Tyre Disposals has recently taken delivery of two Isuzu FXLs.

Covering an area of 2.1 million square kilometres, the company’s fleet is made up entirely of heavy rigids by Isuzu, most of which feature two rear axles and occasionally have to tow trailers.

To cater to growing demand in the tyre recycling industry, owner Steve Hayes now added two equally rugged FXLs to the mix.

“Our Isuzus have been designed so that we are able to tow additional trailers while only requiring a heavy rigid license,” he says – pointing out that his team requires trucks that can offer plenty of power to tow the trailers and handle the load. “We can tow up to nine tonnes in our rear trailers.”

While Hayes admits price was the first point to go for Isuzu’s FXL model, after sales service was equally important to him.

“We always use the night shift at the Queensland dealerships for repairs and servicing as it means less down time for our fleet,” he said.
