QTA to host Road Freight Forum Series in February

The Queensland Trucking Association (QTA) will be conducting its Road Freight Forum Series in regional Queensland in February.

The Regional Road Freight Forums will be held in conjunction with the Transport Safety Group, part of the Office of Fair and Safe Work Qld, and will be held at Brown & Hurley Townsville on Tuesday 11th February; at the Cairns Cruising Yacht Squadron, Portsmith on Thursday 13th February; and at the Mary River Motor Inn, Gympie on Wednesday February 19.

The QTA said members and guests are invited to attend the free and interactive seminars, which will commence with a light breakfast from 7:45am with a seminar to start at 8:30am, and conclude at 12 noon with lunch.

Topics to be discussed at the Seminars include Employee Health and Safety in Isolated and Remote Environments – Obligations and Impact for Heavy Vehicle Drivers presented by Karen Bow, Transport Strategy Group, Office of Fair and Safe Work Qld); Introduction to the Road Safety Remuneration Act 2012 – Employer Obligations presented by Travis Degen, Employment Relations Manager, QTA Ltd; and in Gympie a session will be dedicated to Workplace Bullying – Impacts, Prevention, Assessment and Control – An Employers Guide and the Role of the Fair Work Commission, which will be presented by Matthew Smith, Partner, Sparke Helmore Lawyers.
