In line with its on-going safety and productivity focus, transport company PFD has taken delivery of two new Isuzu FVD 1000 Long trucks and a FRR 600 AMT, which will be based at the company’s South Australian branch.
According to SA Transport Manager, Mark Davies, Isuzu trucks are user-friendly and allow the company to meet the stringent safety requirements prevalent in food distribution.
All the new trucks in the fleet feature purpose-built van bodies with fridge/chiller capabilities that are manufactured by Therma Truck body builders in Smithfield, New South Wales.
The van bodies are fitted with sliding divider walls, which can expand or minimise the refrigerated area for flexibility. PFD also installs racking to hold goods in place.
PFD is one of the largest privately owned food service fleets in Australia, and each day the company’s fleet delivers fresh, frozen and dry goods to over 40,000 businesses across Australia.
According to Isuzu, the company now has a fleet of 66 Isuzus, 41 of which operate from the Adelaide branch. On a day-to-day basis and depending on model, the trucks transport between two and 10 tonne loads with a maximum of 12 pallets for bulk transport services.
