The Peak Downs Highway between Mackay and Moranbah has been labelled “worst road in Australia” by the Emerald Carrying Company, according to a report in the Daily Mercury.
The report said Emerald Carrying Company has put strict safety measures in place when employees travel the highway, quoting Business Manager Andrew Pritchard as saying the company was looking forward to the upgrade to the Peak Downs Highway at Eton Range flagged on Friday.
“Initially we have a very extensive induction and re-induction process to make drivers aware of the risks in road transport,” Mr Pritchard told the Daily Mercury. “We have as many controls as you can have to make sure everyone returns home safely.”
He said any upgrade to the Peak Downs Hwy would be welcomed.
