In the recent Federal Budget, spending needed to duplicate further sections of the Pacific Highway has been allocated. Some of the money to be used on the road improvement has been diverted from projects earmarked in Sydney, the M4 East and the F3 to M2 link. This means work may start soon on the unimproved area around Kempsey.
“We have already begun negotiations with the NSW government with the aim of securing a matching contribution so construction along incomplete sections can begin as soon as possible,” said Federal Transport Minister, Anthony Albanese.
