In recent weeks, Paccar has been involved in initiatives which sees its global reach as a truck manufacturer extended into both South America and China. The company has recently commenced construction of a factory to build DAF Trucks in Brazil and these trucks are expected to be sold both in Latin America and to other global markets.
The company also displayed trucks for the first time in a Chinese vehicle expo when a DAF stand was on show at the recent Auto Shanghai 2011 event. Industry analysts suggest this is a precursor to Paccar negotiating with a Chinese truck manufacturer to build trucks in some form of joint venture for the rapidly growing Chinese truck market.
