Paccar has announced it will build a new DAF assembly plant on a 500 acre site in the state of Parana in Brazil. Construction of the new assembly facility will begin this year and should be completed in 2013.
“Paccar is pleased to invest $200 million in its DAF facility in the dynamic and progressive state of Parana,” said Mark Piggott, Paccar Chairman and CEO. “The area has an excellent workforce and proximity to strategic supplier partners and the Port of Paranagua.”
The facility is expected to employ 500 people in years to come. Currently, the Brazilian truck market constitutes 170,000 trucks per year in an economy which is growing fast.
