Yarrack Skowron has upgraded his 2006 IVECO Daily 50C van model after clocking 1.2 million kilometres in the vehicle.
The Sydney-based owner-driver has spent nearly 20 years delivering A3 and A4 paper for printers and copiers to private businesses and government organisations around the metropolitan area in his 2006 Daily 50C van.
Over this time, the frequent use of the truck’s maximum two-tonne payload, in addition to the start-stop traffic conditions in Sydney and its inner-city suburbs, has certainly tested the equipment.
“Each morning we load up, then I split and deliver each drop with the trolley,” Skowron said.
“Paper is heavy and there’s never an easy day, for either the van or for me.”
In light of this, Skowron has traded his IVECO workhorse in for something newer. In his words, he had no need to consider any other brand.
“My first Daily has definitely proven itself, giving me almost 20 years of reliable service and over that time covering an enormous number of kilometres,” he said.
“For me, the decision to update to the equivalent new model 50C Daily was easy.”
Trading in his old van at IVECO Sydney, Skowron’s new Daily 50C marks a big upgrade.
This van retains a 12m³ volume capacity like the older model, but also comes with an array of improved features in the way of driver appointments, safety equipment, fuel efficiency and emission performance.
One of the biggest changes for Skowron has been the transition from a manual van to the new Daily’s 8-speed fully automatic transmission.
“After so many years of driving a manual in city traffic, I probably won’t know what to do with my left leg,” he said.
“And if I get anywhere near the same performance from this new Daily as I did the old one, it will definitely see out my working days.”
