In December 2013, a new online shopping website, www.buyparts.com.au, entered the scene, filling a gap previously ignored in the transport equipment scene, e-commerce.
The all-new website was developed to provide trade workshops, fleets, owner-drivers and the DIY scene with 24-7 access to commercial vehicle parts, consumables and associated workshop equipment – tapping the full potential of the booming online shopping market. The brands represented online, meanwhile, are offered an additional marketing and sales channel.
“In a fully digitalised world, transport businesses large and small are becoming increasingly frustrated by the lack of parts-related information that's available online. At the same time, 2014 will be a year of exponential growth in global e-commerce, so we took the initiative to bridge that gap,” said buyparts.com.au’s Managing Director, Steve Tabacchiera – referring to a 2013 study conducted by IBM and the National Institute of Economic and Industry Research.
The study said that businesses that don’t embrace the online shopping trend during the coming decade will find themselves on the wrong side of a yawning digital divide and lag behind those who saw the potential of online sourcing coming.
According to Steve, buyparts.com.au was therefore designed to lead the digitalisation of Australia’s transport equipment sector from the front and provide a one-stop-shop for the trucking industry in the looming age of e-commerce.
“Australia’s trucking industry has a long history of utilising technological innovations, and now is the time to make the next step and embrace the potential of online parts sourcing.”
