Nominations for ATA NSW Industry Awards now open

Nominations for the 2012 Australian Transport Association (ATA) NSW Industry Awards are now open, with two new awards created this year. These awards acknowledge and promote the commitment and achievements of those in the NSW road freight industry.

The awards will be presented at the 2012 ATA NSW Annual Dinner and Awards Night. Sponsored by the Australian Industry Group, this year’s dinner will be held in Newcastle on Friday, 7 December.

The awards open for nominations are:

• Contribution to the Industry;
• NSW Transport Woman of the Year; and the
• Young Achiever of the Year (open to under 35’s).

Both the Woman of the Year and Young Achiever of the Year awards are new awards for 2012. The winner of each ATA NSW Industry Award will automatically be nominated for the relevant category in the 2013 National Trucking Industry Awards, which are run by the Australian Trucking Association each year.

Nominations for the ATA NSW awards must be received by Monday, 29 October 2012. Any person involved in the trucking industry in NSW may nominate a person or an organisation, provided they meet the relevant award criteria.

ATA NSW Manager Jill Lewis said the awards were a great opportunity to recognise the contribution of individuals and organisations across New South Wales.

“These are the only trucking industry awards specific to NSW, so this is a unique chance to recognise those who go above and beyond the call of duty in our state,” Lewis said.

“We’re not necessarily looking for the biggest company, or the person who drives the most hours. We’re looking for those who are determined to do the best job they can.”
