NHVL bill set for Victoria

Victoria is getting ready for the new national truck laws with the introduction of the Heavy Vehicle National Law Application Bill 2013 into the Victorian Legislative Assembly this week.

“This bill allows for the application of the Heavy Vehicle National Law, which has been enacted by Queensland Parliament, in Victoria. In doing so it gives effect in Victoria to the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator,” Victorian Minister for Roads Terry Mulder said.

“The passage of the Heavy Vehicle National Law Application Bill 2013 is an integral step of a key national reform process that will reduce red tape, improve the efficiency of Victorian transport operators, and put in place for the first time a truly national framework for the regulation of heavy vehicles.”

The bill is scheduled for debate on Thursday, 2 May.
