At its recent Annual General Meeting, the Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association voted in Liz Schmidt as National President. She succeeds John Beer, who has held the Presidency for the past two years.
“Liz has been a long time hard worker for our industry in Queensland and is now deservingly also our first female National President,” said Beer.
“It has been my great pleasure serve as your President for the past two years. We have achieved a lot, like $10m in funding for sale yard infrastructure, progressing a national ramp standard and influencing the development of the national heavy vehicle law – but there is still a lot more to do.”
A former President of the Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of Queensland, Schmidt has been a long time activist in the trucking industry, representing the concerns of trucking operators in remote areas.
