Australia Post has announced the appointment of Robert Black as Executive General Manager, Parcel Services, effective 12 January, 2015. Black will be responsible for the Parcel Services division, which operates the StarTrack brand. The Parcels Services division has done well in recent times announcing $337.5 million earnings in the last financial year. This figure is up 20.8 per cent on the previous year.
Black has more than 30 years’ experience in the industry, a deep knowledge of the local and international transport and logistics sector and a proven track record in delivering strategic infrastructure projects, according to the announcement by Australia Post.
“Bob Black is an executive of extremely high calibre and I am pleased to announce that he is joining Australia Post to lead our Parcel Services business,” said Ahmed Fahour, Managing Director and Group CEO, Australia Post. “His global knowledge will enable him to shape the future of this dynamic business, leveraging the significant infrastructure and technology investments we have made over the past two years.
“In this role, Black will be responsible for providing a world-class service to our customers with an unrivalled suite of e-commerce-driven logistics, supply chain and parcel delivery solutions for consumers, local and international businesses and online marketplaces.”
Black’s history is as part of global express delivery company TNT, working, most recently, as Managing Director for TNT Benelux, which includes Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. From 2009 to 2014, Black was the Managing Director for TNT Australia, responsible for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region.
“The Australia Post strategy to develop the largest and most reliable network in Australia, with the already committed investment in infrastructure, demonstrates the desire to capitalise on the growth in consumer, business and international markets,” said Black, on his appointment. “I am looking forward to an extremely exciting and challenging time ahead.”
