NatRoad President Geoff Crouch has announced the appointment of Chris Melham as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NatRoad. He will replace outgoing CEO Bernie Belacic, effective from 28 November 2011.

Mr Melham has over 24 years of experience in the management of industry associations at a variety of levels. He currently works as the principal of his own professional consultancy, providing industry bodies with a range of services including advocacy, secretariat support, relationship building and representation to government.

His previous roles include Chief Executive Officer and Company Secretary of the Australian Seed Federation, General Manager – Burdekin Region for the Australian Canegrowers Association, Executive Officer of the NSW Farmers Association and Executive Officer of the NSW Meat Industry Authority.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Mr Crouch said he was delighted to welcome Chris to NatRoad as its new CEO. “I am confident that his demonstrated history in successfully managing industry associations will ensure that NatRoad is able to continue its substantial recent growth and continue to provide excellent member services combined with vigorous lobbying of government and regulators to achieve worthwhile reforms for our industry.”

Mr Crouch also paid tribute to the outgoing CEO, Bernie Belacic. “No-one should underestimate the contribution Bernie has made to the trucking industry in his tenure as CEO,” he said. “He leaves a legacy of which he can rightfully be proud, a legacy that will provide a platform for continued benefits for our members.”

Mr Melham will attend the next NatRoad Board meeting on Tuesday, 29 November.
