Freightliner’s Argosy has already been labelled by some as Australia’s best-equipped B-double truck and during the recent Brisbane Truck Show, the company presented its next generation. The new model, which features several substantial enhancements, will be on the market in the fourth quarter of 2011.
The updated model features a stunning giant grille that gives it a spectacular new appearance. Apart from its impressive look, it encompasses an enhanced cooling system to provide a better environment for drivers even in the toughest conditions. Greater volumes of air is driven into the Argosy’s optimised fan and radiator thanks to the improved airflow that is provided by the more spacious grille.
In addition, the new model has the biggest sleeper cab on the road. With the 110’ raised roof sleeper, the cabin is taller and deeper than the previous model. The flat floor allows driver to move around the cabin conveniently.
Customers also have the choice of two engines, the Cummins ISX or Detroit Diesel DD15. The engines deliver up to 560hp and 1850 lb-ft of torque. They integrate cutting-edge emission technology delivering reliability, drivability, and performance. The new Eaton Ultrashift automatic transmission further enhances driver control, exceptional actuation, and significant fuel savings.
Other features of the new Argosy include the 12 degree sloped windscreen that greatly reduces air drag, and the lightweight heavy duty aluminium cab construction for lower tare weight.
