In the US, Navistar has dropped its court action against the US Environmental Protection Agency over its licensing of SCR systems on rival truck maker’s models. The manufacturer of International Trucks had contended the EPA had introduced the new technology without the public process required by law. Navistar and the EPA have come to an agreement to settle the dispute.
All of Navistar’s rivals in the US truck market have chosen to introduce SCR emissions control technology to meet the US EPA 2010 rules. Navistar has chosen to go down the route of relying on EGR only. This decision has been widely questioned by commentators in the US market and the court action was seen by some as being an effort to divert attention away from the technology Navistar has chosen to employ.
