Truck salvage expert and industry icon, Mick Simpson, of New South Wales based Wales Truck Repairs, has announcement his retirement after 20 years.
To honour Simpson, Wales Truck Repairs will hold a special industry night at his local club, the Chester Hill RSL Club, this Saturday night at 6pm.
“Over all the years, Mick has become well known in so many circles across the transport industry and always seems to have his hand up to help out, no matter what,” said Darren Wales, Managing Director of Wakes Truck Repairs. “He’s an industry icon and we can’t thank him enough for all his hard work over the years. We will certainly miss him.”
Simpson started working in the transport industry in 1969, working for Frank W Johnston Transport at Greenacre. Ten years later, Simpson commenced driving for Telecom Australia, driving three to eight tonne trucks. In 1989, he started working in the truck panel beating industry, the job was going out to accident sites and organising the salvage of both the trucks and their loads. From 1989 to 1995 Simpson worked for two smaller repairers before starting at Wales Truck Repairs Smithfield.
