At the 2012 International Truck, Trailer and Equipment show (ITTES) in Melbourne, industry powerhouse Michelin Australia allowed a first look at two new Michelin tyres to be launched later this year – including the highly anticipated Michelin X Multi D tyre.
“Through the Michelin X Multi D, end users can save their tyre operating costs with longer mileage and better retreadability,” says Michelin Australia's Press Manager, Jane Rowe. “The X Multi D tyre also supports business mobility and safety with better traction and stronger casing. It delivers a performance balance that is unequaled.”
According to Michelin, the combined effect of fuel efficiency, longevity and retreadability make trucking companies more productive while also reducing the tyre’s environmental impact. “The tyre’s superior traction in all driving conditions helps truckers get the job done efficiently and safely. Thanks to its outstanding grip, the MICHELIN X Multi D limits the risk of incidents that can slow deliveries, thereby improving productivity,” says Jane.
The new tread pattern of the tyre has a bigger contact patch, which in conjunction with the new tread compound delivers longer tyre life and reduced rolling resistance. This all results in financial benefits for the user, according to the manufacturer. “The new tread pattern also delivers improved traction and safety to meet the increasingly high balance of performance standards Michelin expects of its tyres,” says Jane.
Also on show will be the latest urban bus and light truck tyre, the Michelin X InCity Z 275/70R22.5. Designed to meet the needs of the demanding stop and start operations in urban areas, this tyre provides a more reliable and cost effective tyre solution, with minimal environmental impacts in mind.
“The Michelin X InCity Z has also been developed to improve uptime by reducing tyre damages like sidewall pinches from road side curbing, or crown shocks from potholes. Other benefits of the new design are longer removal mileage through even wear and high retreadability.”
Both new tyre solutions will be available in Michelin dealer network later this year and are currently displayed at the ITTES Melbourne.
