Mercedes-Benz to sponsor Sandown Drive Days

In less than a month, the Victorian Transport Association (VTA) will again host the Sandown Drive Days at Sandown Racecourse. The hands-on event will showcase all the latest in transport technology and is supported by a wealth of well-regarded sponsors, including global automotive brand, Mercedes-Benz.

“Mercedes-Benz is the only manufacturer that supplies passenger cars, vans, buses, coaches and trucks for the Australian market. No other manufacturer has the depth of experience in meeting the transport needs of such a diverse range of customers,” said Phil Lovel, VTA Executive Director.

During the show on 7–8 March, the team from the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy (MBDA) will be on hand to demonstrate the active safety capabilities both on track and the skid pan of the passenger car, van and truck range. The MBDA led by AMG SLS GT3 driver Peter Hackett and his team of professional race drivers will actively demonstrate the capabilities of these vehicles and give attendees the opportunity to also experience the full range first hand.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz will showcase CNG technology in the Sprinter and the all new Econic forward cab truck which provide what they call “a unique partnership of productivity, technology and safety”. Attendees will get the opportunity to ride in the Actros 2660, Actros 3260 and the Econic CNG 4 X 2 Prime mover on track.

The opportunity to observe up close and personal the Mercedes-Benz Star Diagnosis system in operation, gives attendees an understanding of the complete nature of MB Service and maintenance procedures.

“During the day, we will continuously run product and safety videos in our hospitality area located at the far end of the pit lane and demonstration area. A selection of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, vans, trucks and a few surprise vehicles will be on display. We are proud of our extensive range of vehicles and our support for the 2013 Sandown Drive Days,” Mercedes-Benz announced.
