Mercedes-Benz reveals X-Class launch date

Mercedes-Benz has announced that the latest addition to its light commercial vehicle range, the X-Class, will be launched in Australia in April 2018.

The X-Class will initially be launched with 13 variants, boasting two turbocharged four-cylinder engines delivering high power outputs and high torque at low engine speeds.

The high-torque common-rail diesel drive system with a displacement of 2.3 litres is available with a choice of two power outputs. In the X 220 d with single turbocharger it generates 120 kW and in the biturbo X 250 d no less than 140 kW.

The X 220 d is available with purely rear wheel drive or with engageable all-wheel drive, while the X 250 d is offered with engageable all-wheel drive only.

The X 220 d and X 250 d come with a six speed manual transmission as standard, with a seven speed automatic option available for the X 250 d.

The X-Class will be offered in three grades to suit different lifestyles and work environments, the 'Pure' variant for classic robust use, 'Progressive' for higher requirements in terms of quality feel and comfort, and 'Power' as the high-end variant for urban lifestyles.
