Mercedes-Benz Trucks will showcase its new waste collection truck at the Australasian Waste and Recycling Expo in Sydney 26 and 27 of July.
The all-electric eEconic’s appearance at the expo comes ahead of a local validation program soon to be undertaken by Mercedes-Benz Trucks Australia ahead of it bringing the vehicle to market in Australia.
With production starting last year, the eEconic has impressed European customers with its advanced design, strong performance, efficiency and near silent operation.
The eEconic uses much of the same electric architecture as the Mercedes-Benz Trucks eActros, which is currently part of a validation program in Australia and New Zealand.
Daimler Truck already has considerable experience with electric trucks in Australia. It was the first manufacturer to launch an all-electric truck when Fuso introduced the pioneering eCanter locally in 2021.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks Australia Pacific Director, Andrew Assimo, said the eEconic will be an exciting feature of the AWRE event.
“The waste and recycling industry is determined to reduce its transport carbon emissions in a practical way, so the eEconic is a perfect fit,” he said.
“We are thrilled to be able to have it on our stand in Sydney before it gets to work as part of our validation trial,” added Assimo.
While Mercedes-Benz Trucks is keen to move forward with battery electric technology, it is also proud to help traditional internal combustion engine customers drive down their emissions.
