Australia’s largest livestock carrier Martins Stock Haulage has acquired a Queensland business.
Camrandale Transport a Quilpie-based family-owned livestock transport company agreed to terms with Martins Stock Haulage earlier in the month.
The 21-year old Welk family business runs eight prime movers spec’d for triple roadtrain application.
Founder Tim Welk was honoured by the Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association in February.
All Camrandale Transport staff will be retained under the agreement.
In a statement provided to Beef Central, the senior management of Martins Stock Haulage said the professionalism and reputation of Camrandale had been long admired by the company.
“This is a company that has earned the trust of its customers through consistent, high-quality service,” said the statement.
“What Tim and Theresa [Welk] have built is truly impressive, and we see this as a continuation of their outstanding work, and we’re committed to maintaining the high level of service that their customers have grown accustomed to.”
In March the ALRTA in a joint statement with the Livestock, Bulk and Rural Carriers Association, condemned acts of arson and vandalism by activist intimidation groups that had resulted in extensive damage to livestock vehicles.
