Regional Queensland company, Northern Stevedoring Services (NSS) today announced the acquisition of Wiltrade’s Townsville depot, which will allow the company to further reinforce its position as one of regional Queensland’s leading supply chain solutions companies.
NSS has already made a significant investment in Townsville. This strategic acquisition will provide a great expansion of the company’s logistics operations and means that NSS will supply a full range of logistical services to ocean going freight in Townsville.
The purchase of Wiltrade’s Townsville depot also includes the assignment of leases over strategic port depot land and the business that derives from the depot.
“We’ll now be able to offer a holistic door to door service to our customers” said Jeff Weightman, NSS Port Logistics Manager. “From stevedoring, through to storage and dispatch, we are a true one stop solution provider.”
NSS Port Logistics has an existing 3000 square metre undercover warehousing area. When combined with the new 40 year lease of two hectares of Nexus Park, this will complete the company’s geographic footprint in Townsville.
“With NSS Port Logistics working together with our Stevedoring and Equipment Hire operations, customers will be able to experience hassle free stevedoring and integrated supply chain solutions,” explained Todd Emmert, NSS General Manager.
As well as providing the base for a new transport and logistics service for both local and regional deliveries, the depot will also allow the company to deconsolidate current cargo at the port, providing room for additional growth, which will result in increased container packing and unpacking facilities, as well as warehousing and storage.
