Leading transport and logistics company, Linfox, yesterday took delivery of its first Volvo electric prime movers.
The handover of both a Volvo FH Electric and FM Electric took place at the Australian Automotive Research Centre in Anglesea.
Present at the event were Linfox Executive Chairman Peter Fox, Linfox Founder, Lindsay Fox and Linfox Australia and New Zealand CEO Mark Mazurek who welcomed Volvo Group Global CEO Martin Lundstedt and Volvo Group Australia CEO Martin Merrick.
The company said it represented another major step towards establishing a net zero-emissions logistics operation by 2050.
“This significant milestone, with Linfox as an industry-leading early adopter of electric vehicle prime movers in Australia, leads our organisation and the industry towards a more safe, secure, efficient and sustainable future,” said Mazurek.
The Volvo FH Electric holds up to six battery packs for up to 540 kWh and is reportedly capable of carrying 50 tonnes as a gross combination weight with an operational range in the vicinity of 300km.
In a statement, Linfox said the Volvo electric prime mover trucks represent a significant advancement in size, gross vehicle mass, battery capacity and would allow the business to service its customers across longer-distance operations with larger loads.
